Practice
Steven is a commercial real estate and hospitality attorney. He has over twenty-three years of experience successfully counseling his clients through a wide array of real estate, secured financing, business, regulatory, and corporate matters, with an emphasis on complex transactional matters.
Over the course of his career, Steven has been honored to serve as ongoing legal counsel (in-house and/or as outside counsel) to a variety of clients, including smaller regional clients, municipalities and State agencies, larger sophisticated organizations, and Fortune 500 companies. In this role, Steven serves as trusted legal advisor and the first point of contact whenever new legal issues arise.
Steven also dedicated a significant portion of his early career to litigation matters. Through this experience and his extensive background serving as transactional and ongoing legal counsel, Steven has developed a broad base of knowledge in a variety of practice areas that are often critical to the success of his clients, such as civil litigation, mediation, arbitration, employment related matters, creditor/debtor rights, and intellectual property. Most importantly, Steven’s broad-based experience has engrained in him the strong, general, maturity of judgment needed to successfully counsel his clients through their most complex legal issues.
Steven’s recent experience includes serving as in-house general counsel to the developer of two of the largest mixed-use developments in Washington State and Arizona, respectively. Each such development involved complex hospitality components. Other recent illustrative matters include serving as lead counsel in connection with a $170 million private equity investment and a $230 million construction/mezzanine financing transaction.
Outside of work, Steven is devoted to his wife and two teenage kids, and he is a dedicated cyclist, runner, and snow skier.
Steven offices primarily in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, and serves Sandman Savrann’s clients regionally and nationally.
