Short Program—Transaction Update. Mark Lukens of HREC will provide an update on recent hotel sales in the region, as well as new hotel developments that are currently in the pipeline. HREC is the nation’s premier real estate advisory and brokerage organization specializing exclusively in the lodging and gaming industries. Mark is in charge of HREC’s Seattle office. He has 25 years of experience in hospitality real estate and holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute.
Centerpiece Program: “EB5 Hotel Financing.” Learn how this financing mechanism works, how it is impacting the industry, and how it can impact your development objectives.
Panelists:
Angelique Brunner, President, EB5 Capital (Washington, D.C.). EB5 Capital operates USCIS- approved regional centers in Washington, D.C. and California. The company’s DC regional center, approved in 2008 and reauthorized in 2010, covers Washington, D.C. and parts of northern Virginia and Maryland, and its projects include the Sugarbush Resort in Vermont. As EB5 Capital’s president, Angel is responsible for sourcing and structuring all of the company’s projects.
Adam Greene, President, Live In America Financial Services, and Sr. Vice President, The LCP Group (New York, NY). The LCP group provides development financing for real estate projects, including hotel development. The sources of its funds include private equity as well as funds derived from EB5 investments made through its affiliated company, Live in America Financial Services. Adam has over twenty years of experience in financial services, including positions at Textron Financial, Mistral International, JPMorgan Chase, and Arthur Andersen.
Henry Liebman, CEO and Chairman, American Life, Inc. (Seattle, WA). American Life, Inc., founded in 1996, finances, develops and manages properties across key markets in the U.S. The company pioneered the EB5 mechanism for real estate development. The company’s completed EB5 projects include the Seattle Pioneer Square Marriott Courtyard, and projects under construction include the $168 million combined Courtyard and Residence Inn hotel project at the “LA Live” entertainment center in Los Angeles. Henry is the company’s co-founder and has served as CEO since its inception.

Irvin Sandman, Attorney – Counselor, Sandman Savrann PLLC (Seattle, WA). Sandman Savrann is a national law firm devoted exclusively to providing comprehensive, first-choice legal counsel to the hospitality industry. Irv has counseled hotel clients, as lead counsel, in thousands of hotel matters and transactions regionally, nationally and internationally. He is the 2008 recipient of the Anthony Marshall Award for lasting contributions to hospitality law, the past president of the Hospitality Industry Bar Association, and editor-in-chief of the Washington State Hospitality Law Manual, Third Edition (2012).
